Competence field 1: Competence in one or more sciences
- Advanced understanding of the interaction between drugs and biological systems.
- Understanding the quality of formulation and production of forms of drug delivery.
- Knowledge of biotechnological and biological drugs.
- Interpret relevant laboratory values for the dosage of drugs.
- Advise the patient on medical devices.
- Advise the patient on nutrition and lifestyle in a pharmacotherapeutic context.
- Understand the issue of misuse and abuse of drugs and xenobiotics.
- Independent planning of scientific research and execution with a critical attitude.
- Approach clinical studies critically.
- Apply evidence-based, cost-effective and safe pharmacotherapy in clinical practice, including special patient groups and care settings.

Legal Requirements regarding Professional Duties the Diploma complies with
Apotheker: om op wettelijke basis de farmacie te mogen beoefenen moet men:
- beschikken over het diploma van Apotheker/Master in de farmaceutische zorg/ Master in de geneesmiddelenontwikkeling
- het visum van de Provinciale Geneeskundige commissie bekomen hebben
- bij de Orde der Apothekers ingeschreven zijn

The study programme complies with the requirements concerning admission to the regulated profession of 'Apotheker' as laid down in the Directive 2005/36/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of the European Union on the recognition of professional qualifications.
