- Have knowledge of the mathematical concepts, basic methods and techniques and using them at an appropriate level of abstraction.
- Have thorough basic knowledge and have the ability to use classical mathematics domains such as analysis, linear algebra, algebra, discrete mathematics, geometry, numerical analysis, probability theory, statistics, optimization and logic.
- Understand relevant developments in mathematical research.
- Have a broad basic knowledge of physics and computer science and be able to use it.
- Know and handle standard techniques and models of mathematics within relevant application areas.
- Have the ICT skills related to mathematics, such as programming, working with computer algebra and tex based packages and statistical data processing.
- Minor Informatics: Understand algorithms, data structures, programming and logic and the application of mathematics in informatics.
- Minor Life Sciences: Have an insight in life sciences, population processes, computational biology, bioinformatics and the application of mathematics in biosciences.
- Minor Economics: Have an insight in economics, econometrics, financial mathematics and the application of mathematics in economics.
- Minor Physics: Understand additional physics courses such as electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, astronomy and the application of mathematics in physics.
- Minor Education: Have an insight in powerful teaching environments, in class management and in refelection and in those parts of mathematics that are relevant for education.
- Be familiar with mathematical thinking, i.e. understand a mathematical proof, judge whether an argument is logically correct, see exactly which properties are used, recognize a gap or an unnecessary step in a proof or calculation, and independently create and formulate mathematical reasoning.
