Competence field 1: Competency in one or more disciplines (knowledge)
- Critically reflect on theoretical concepts regarding social work and social pedagogy.
- Apply advanced knowledge in the field of social work, social pedagogy an social policy theories in order to analyze complex social work practices.
- Critically and independently apply related (sub) disciplines in the analysis of problem definitions in social work and social pedagogy from an inter-and transdisciplinary perspective.
- Have insight the history and the nature of social work as a science, as a profession and as a practice, and apply this historical perspective independently in current discussions on and analysis of complex social and educational problems.
- Reflect critically on paradigms that underlie problem definitions in social work and social pedagogy, identify its limits and creative use of this reflection.
- Critical insight into the international scientific literature and in the international research in the social work and social pedagogy, and use these insights in an original way.
- Critically analyze contemporary problem definitions in social work and social pedagogy and corresponding developments in social work by using different theoretical frameworks, and translation into a research design.
- Critically select models for research in social work and social pedagogy, adapt these for specific use and develop new models, methods and techniques.
- Use creativity and social imagination to discover relations and new points of view, and use these points of view in the creation of new applications.
- Nuanced interpretation of results of own research or design and a correct registration in a scientifically correct report.
- Handle changes in research or design processes and adjust the process accordingly.
- Demonstrate a critical, deontological and ethical professional attitude that bears witness to scientific integrity and independence in both research and practice of social work.
- Independently and systematically reflect on one’s own thinking, learning and acting in social work and social pedagogy and translate this reflection into adequate solutions.
