Final Competences of the Study Programme
Role of the scientist
Apply univariate and multivariate quantitative statistical methods to complex data.
Support and possess insight into different quantitative and qualitative research methods that are relevant for management and for health care policy.
Assess the different steps and methods of scientific research for effectiveness and apply the same in the management and policy sciences domain.
Critically read, interpret and summarise scientific articles and research reports on management and policy problems.
Exhibit a critically reflective research attitude and an independent problem-solving ability in the analysis of specific questions concerning management and health care policy.
Translate and work out a concrete research proposal for a research need in the management and policy domain in an ethically responsible manner.
Role of the manager
Use key concepts, basic concepts and explanatory models of management, policy and entrepreneurship at a strategic and an operational level.
Possess insight into the evolution of management and policy sciences and in related sciences and of their contribution to a better understanding of the organisation.
Use the legal, financial and organisational aspects of health care in Belgium in the analysis of simple management and policy problems.
Possess insight into the role and the contribution of the most important actors within the health care sector.
Provide a framework for health and welfare concepts and the influencing social, cultural and physical environmental factors in a broader social context.
Role of the professional
Provide written reports on ideas, problems, solutions and research in the management and policy sciences field to colleagues.
Provide a clear oral summary of a research plan in management and policy sciences to colleagues.
