Master of Science in Bioscience Engineering: Cell and Gene Biotechnology
Bioengineers specialising in cell and gene biotechnology are capable of directing biological processes at DNA, protein, organism or ecosystem level, and of using their engineering mindset to put that knowledge into practice for industry and society.
Open Days
Each spring there is a Graduation Fair. It consists of a job fair (with more than 200 different companies) and a postgrad/master fair.
For some programmes, there is a specific Open Day. If this is the case, you will find the date here (at the latest Feb 15th).

Additional Information on Admission (Flemish Degree)
There are no preparatory courses organized that give access to the Master's programmes of Bioscience Engineering.
Students who have obtained an academic bachelor's degree in a closely related field of study (eg. Biology, Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Bioscience Engineering Technology, Chemistry, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Bioindustrial Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, ...) can submit a request for exemptions in the Bachelor of Science in de bio-ingenieurswetenschappen which gives immediate admission to the master’s programme.

Admission for Students holding a Non-Flemish Degree
Students who wish to enrol for the Master of Science in Bioscience Engineering: Cell and Gene Biotechnology can enter the programme if they hold the following diploma: an academic diploma of Bachelor (or Master) of Science in Engineering (university level, minimum three years), with the main subject in Bio(science) Engineering or an equivalent to this. Admission can only be granted after an individual application procedure. The Study Programme Committee will make the final decision whether to accept the application or not.

Language requirements
Language requirements for this study programme differ from the required standard level for English taught study programmes as specified in the Ghent University Education and Examination Code:
English:
Only nationals of all EU and EEA countries, Australia, Botswana, Cameroon, Canada, Eritrea, Gambia, Ghana, Guyana, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Namibia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Uganda, UK, USA, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, can provide a stamped and signed certificate of English proficiency issued by their previous university if they have obtained at least 60 ECTS credits with English as the language of instruction during a previous bachelor or master level higher education degree. This certificate should clearly state that English was the language of instruction during the previous degree.
Candidates from any other nationality need to present test results of one of the following tests (validity of 5 years):
- TOEFL iBT 86
- TOEFL pBT 570
- Academic iELTS 6,5 overall score with a min. of 6 for writing (online test is accepted)
Exemptions:
- Prospective students who have a diploma (Secondary Education, Academic Bachelor Degree, Master Degree) issued by an institution officially recognized by the Flemish Government (see Education and Examination Code art. 10 § 1 2°). Remark: this exemption does not count for application to Erasmus Mundus Programmes.
