Competence field 1: Discipline-specific knowledge, skills, attitudes
- Masters in Social Work and Welfare Studies thoroughly understand theoretical paradigms of Social Work, Social Pedagogy and other relevant disciplines.
- Masters in Social Work and Social Welfare Studies have a thorough and critical understanding of the international, socio-political, policy and organisational contexts in which social work practice is embedded.
- Masters in Social Work and Social Welfare Studies can analyse complex social issues and problem definitions in the domains of Social Work and Social Pedagogy in an evidence-based manner and evaluate whether or not these contribute to social justice.
- Masters in Social Work and Social Welfare Studies show historical-social awareness and integrate this awareness when developing the Social Work action domain.
- Masters in Social Work and Social Welfare Studies can relate Social Work and Social Pedagogy perspectives to social issues, contexts, and various stakeholders.
- Masters in Social Work and Social Welfare Studies adopt an investigative, self-reflective and ethically responsible attitude when developing, implementing and evaluating social work practices on a local and supralocal (Flemish, national, European, transnational) level.
- Masters in Social Work and Social Welfare Studies can implement specific social work guidelines and adopt an approach focused on the living environment to promote social justice and human rights, and to initiate social change if necessary.
- Masters in Social Work and Social Welfare Studies can fulfil the roles of policy planner, policy adviser, and co-ordinator in the social work practice
- Masters in Social Work and Social Welfare Studies can approach social work practice with creativity, innovation, humour and empathy.
