Final Competences of the Study Programme
The specific professional competences are acquired through adapted education methods, consisting of a combination of lectures, performance trainings, self-learning activities and oral presentations.
The education programme is partly based on a combination of accompanied self-learning of appropriate knowledge and competences with experience at the workplace.
The education programme is followed by certified doctors in occupational medicine or in doctors in occupational medicine in training, engaged in professional practice for the health surveillance of workers occupationally exposed to ionizing radiation. In this way students can link very easily the theoretical courses content related to ionizing radiation and the health risks. In the education programme there is ample time for training.
During the education programme the student is informed about research in radiation protection. This is possible as the lecturers of the courses are involved in 'evidence based' research. Furthermore students have to participate in different seminars and topical days of e.g. the Belgian Society for Radiation Protection.
