This exchange programme offers a selection of general courses for exchange students within the field of Medicine and Health Sciences. The programme allows students to add these courses as a supplement to their programme-specific courses, internship and/or research.

What
The faculty offers a wide selection of English taught courses. This programme consists of a selection of courses from various topics (Biomedical Sciences, Physical Education and Movement Sciences, Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy, Speech Languages and Hearing Sciences, Health Promotion, Nursing and Midwifery, Medicine, Dentistry, Health Care Management and Policy…) which may be of interest to incoming students.
Structure
- Courses are organised in the 1st or the 2nd semester. The academic calendar can be found here.
- The course titles do not always reflect the content as you are used to.

Read the course specifications and initial competences carefully (click on a subject of your choice for a clear view)
- Bachelor courses are taught at 3th year level. This means that you need to have completed minimum 120 ECTS in your home degree.
- To include master courses in your curriculum, you need to have completed minimum 180 ECTS in your home degree within the study field of your choice. Alternatively you can include a subject outside your field of study and/or outside your study level ONLY if you meet the initial competences from the course concerned.
- You will need to select courses for about 30 ECTS credits per semester.
- Please note that attendance is mandatory for some courses. It is the student’s responsibility to check potential overlap of courses.
- Make sure to check if our our academic calendar, more specific our (exam) dates, align with the schedule of your degree program at your home university.
- The majority of the credits (min. 60%) need to be selected from this exchange programme. However, it might be interesting to take a look at the courses in other UGent faculties, such as Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Faculty of Sciences, Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, and faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences as they also offer courses that might be relevant for your home degree.
- Our own study programme Physical Education and Movement Sciences also has an own exchange programme (Ghent University: Exchange Programme Physical Education and Movement Sciences).
- The Ghent University Elective Courses are elective courses that can be taken by any student with no prior knowledge required.
- University Language Centre (UCT): Option to follow a language course 'Dutch for exchange students' or other languages.
