Master of Science in Maritime Science
The Maritime Science programme is a globally unique multidisciplinary programme aimed at students from diverse academic backgrounds who possess a common interest in the maritime world and its evolutions. Via a three-pillar structure (technical-general, economic-logistic, legal), students are taught everything they need to know for a successful career in the dynamic maritime sector.
Open Days
Each spring the graduation fair EVOLV. organised by the UGent Association, offers the opportunity to discover all possible options to continue studying or to start looking for a job (with more than 200 different companies).
For some programmes, there is a specific Open Day. If so, it will be announced here (at the latest Feb 15th).

Admission for Students holding a Non-Flemish Degree
Due to the interdisciplinarity of the programme, the organizers choose to accept graduates from a wide range of different educational backgrounds. The minimum requirement for admission is a master’s degree (master’s degree following a bachelor‘s degree, e.g. Master in Law, Master in Business Economics, etc.), but in specific cases, after an examination of their curriculum and in view of their acquired competences, candidates with an equivalent foreign degree may be admitted. Students who are graduating may apply and can be conditionally admitted, subject to the successful completion of their degree.
Students need to apply for admission to the MSc in Maritime Science programme before the deadline, via the procedure as mentioned on https://www.maritimescience.ugent.be/how-to-apply.html. They can only be accepted after a thorough screening and selection.

Flexible trajectories
The MSc Maritime Science has always been open to working students. Year after year, professionals find that the program is flexible when it needs to be and can be combined with a professional life. The study program can easily be spread over two or three years. During this time, students are free to choose which subjects they wish to take up that year. Financially, the registration fee consists of an annual fixed administrative cost plus an amount based on the number of credits taken up each year, so that the additional costs for students who spread the program over more than one year are kept to a minimum.
