Bachelor of Science in Business Administration
Choosing the Business Administration programme means opting for an economic study of the day-to-day functioning of a business. Although there is a lot of common ground between our programme and the Business Economics programme, our focus is more on the environmental factors and the organisational aspects of business life. The study programme is practice-oriented and project-based.

Final Competences of the Study Programme
Learning outcomes:
In general, graduates with a bachelor degree in Commercial Sciences are expected to function efficiently and creatively in managerial and/or expert roles in business or other organisations. To this end, an academic grounding is combined with the development of the necessary practical skills. The students are expected to tackle issues, problems or developments that are typical of middle-management or higher roles in a practical manner.
General competences:
BA Graduates are capable of:
- reflecting on their own behaviour and their own approach in a positive, yet critical manner;
- giving due consideration to the importance of lifelong learning and being aware of the relativity and transience of knowledge;
- duly communicating to suit the context and purpose, both in their mother tongue and in a foreign language;
- carrying out simple management tasks and developing the necessary interpersonal skills to manage a group;
- dealing successfully with functional autonomy. To this end, they must have a sufficiently entrepreneurial attitude, as well as a sense of quality and responsibility.
- working in a problem-solving manner. This means that they must be able to recognise a simple problem, analyse it independently and compare, work out and implement different potential solutions;
- acquiring and processing information that is relevant to solve a business-economic problem, and to examine this information in a comparative and critical manner;
- Applying logical reasoning to solve a business-economic problem. After all, the conceptual and analytical BA graduate is, indeed, able to reason logically, summarise, structure, establish links and chart contrasts;
- display a creative attitude;
- deal with challenges that typify an international context;
- prepare and carry out project-related activities.
General scientific competences:
BA Graduates are capable of:
- conceiving of a simple research initiative. This means that they can start a study, ask the right questions and make the right hypotheses, and use in an uncertain context relevant research methods and techniques, including the collection and analysis of data;
- opting, in a well-reasoned manner, for certain research methods to apply these effectively to the analysis/solution of economic and business problems.
Course-specific competences:
BA Graduates:
- can set up an economic study, and integrate it in the decision-making process;
- are familiar with the economic laws which control the context in which economic actors make choices;
- understand the financial mechanisms of a company and the reports they have to write internally/externally. The mastery of techniques related to this is vital to be able to assess and evaluate the implications of policy decisions within their own business or with regard to another business (e.g. in the context of a possible investment), but also to be able to supply the information required for such an assessment;
- are familiar with a number of human science-related concepts and understand a number of basic psychological and sociological concepts
- are familiar with the legal framework in which economic entities operate. After all, BA graduates must be aware of the compliance issues, be able to retrieve information efficiently, evaluate this information correctly and act on it. They are aware of the law as social (economic) factor;
- are familiar with the way in which the use of information and communications technology can benefit the company. They can also use the basic applications that can be useful in this context;
- are capable of using foreign languages correctly and effectively, so that they can process information in that language and can communicate in that language, both orally and in writing, correctly in different contexts and with different objectives in mind.
- have the general skills to function in a business-specific context
- are capable of assessing and evaluating the implications of the different options in economic decision-making.
- possess the basic insights and skills related to the management areas of marketing, information management, corporate taxation, general management, as well as knowledge of financial products and services.
