- Understand the basic sciences and basic engineering sciences and have the ability to apply them in an innovative, practical and target‐oriented way within the own field of engineering.
- Use of professional and applicable methods and techniques in an innovative and target‐oriented way.
- Use of standard calculation methods to dimension and design classical constructions in the usual materials.
- Fundamental knowledge and understanding of the properties and behaviour of materials (including their technology) in simple designs and civil constructions.
- Fundamental knowledge of the behaviour of soil and apply them to simple foundation problems.
- Integrated application of fundamental knowledge of structural aspects and building physics on case studies.
- Understanding the importance of environmental aspects in civil engineering.
- Fundamental understanding of transport phenomena and in particular the flow of water. Employed on the identification, reasoning and the application on classical design problems.
- Basic knowledge of topografic surveying techniques.
- Look up, evaluate and work with technical and scientific information in a target‐oriented way and refer to it correctly.
- Correct use of standard models, research methods and techniques in assignments.
- Schematize and model experiments, processes and/or systems and test these in an actual context.
- Initiate problem based research in the subject field.
- Show self‐reliance, precision, assertiveness and critical reflection.
- Show technical‐scientific curiosity.
- Think in a conceptual, analytical, system‐oriented and problem‐solving way at different levels of abstraction and in a variable context.
