Master of Arts in Global Studies
The Erasmus Mundus Master Global Studies – A European Perspective is a two-year programme organised jointly by six European partners and nine world-wide partners.
This international research-based Master is combining perspectives, methods and theories developed in history, the social sciences, cultural as well as area studies and economics to investigate phenomena of global connectedness.
Open Days
Each spring there is a Graduation Fair. It consists of a job fair (with more than 200 different companies) and a postgrad/master fair.
For some programmes, there is a specific Open Day. If this is the case, you will find the date here (at the latest Feb 15th).
Additional Information on Admission (Flemish Degree)
All prospective students must register with the consortium via the coordinating university (Leizpig) no later than 31 May prior to the academic year in which they wish to enroll: https://globalstudies-masters.eu/admission/application/
Admission for Students holding a Non-Flemish Degree
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- A three-year bachelor’s degree or the recognized equivalent from an accredited institution in the humanities or social sciences, with a minimum of 15% global studies–relevant courses;
- Excellent English skills: Proficiency in English needs to be proven with an official English certificate as listed below under Application Documents. Native English speakers must provide proof of knowledge of a language other than English at the A2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;
- Knowledge of another foreign language at the A2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (to be proven by a high school certificate and/or an internationally recognized test, score certificates, or equivalent proof of participation in language courses)

Selection Criteria: the decision on admission is made by the EMGS Study Purposes and Selection Committee and are based on the following criteria:
- 50%: Academic excellence and quality/recognition of home institution that has awarded the first degree
- 15%: Motivation and academic potential
- 20%: Compatibility of previous degree(s) with the EMGS programme
- 15%: Work experience/professional qualifications

Language requirements
* Excellent English skills (minimum B2-level according to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages or UNIcert level II according to the German Association of Language Centres, Language Teaching Institutes and Institutes of Foreign Languages). The proficiency in English needs to be proven by an official English certificate. English native speakers need to provide a proof of knowledge of a language different to their mother tongue on A2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
* Knowledge of a further foreign language on A2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (to be proven by the High School certificate and/or international recognized test score certificates or equivalent proof of participation in language courses)

Flexible trajectories refers to alternative ways of following our courses. It might mean that a course can be spread in time as to allow the combination of work and studying, or that students with special needs get the support they need to allow a successful study career.
