Learning outcomes

Possess an advanced knowledge of the European Union (EU), its institutions, competences, cardinal concepts, and substantive principles.

Have an in-depth scientific knowledge of specific legal areas of European Union law.

Have knowledge of scientific domains that frame and steer the European legal order, including international politics and international economics.

Have both theme-specific and general knowledge of the legal, political, economic, cultural, … issues of supranational legal integration.

Assimilate the source material and the special terminology of European Union law and use it to interpret, analyze and respond to legal questions.

Combine, interpret and apply legal rules on relevant legal questions from various layers of the international legal order - national, European and international.

Perform legal analysis and have argumentation for issues and cases of European Union law.

Qualify, develop, research, discuss, and critically answer questions regarding a scientific research question of European Union law.

Understand and contextualize the legal dynamics of the internationalizing legal order.

Appreciate and analyze scientifically the various legal sources and actors of EU law.

Daring to formulate a creative position regarding a legal question of European Union law, using a scientifically based analysis and logic legal reasoning.

Understand the national dimension of the concretization of European Union law and / or international law, and appreciate the differences in national legal systems and traditions.

Apply the techniques and methods of legal argumentation and presentation.

Have an attitude of self-study, lifelong learning and professional growth, particularly through preparatory reading for group discussions in the courses.

Draft a clear legal scientific text about EU law.

Present and defend orally an issue relating to European Union law on the basis of legal argumentation or a personal position, with a sense of presentation, synthesis and integration in the national context.

Act individually or in a team with a sense of responsibility, deontology and awareness of differences in national legal cultures.

Be open to insights from colleagues, also from other fields of knowledge, in approaching legal and multidisciplinary issues.

Participate in academic and extra-curricular activities relating to EU law.

Have awareness of the social responsibility and the role of the lawyer in the European integration and in the internationalization of the legal order.
