Competence field 1: Competency in one or more scientific disciplines
- Having a thorough understanding of the theories, models and techniques of one of the business functional domains (accountancy, business finance or marketing).
- Deepening the basic knowledge further with respect to the other functional domains.
- Applying knowledge in a critical way in the analysis and evaluation of complex business economic issues.
- Understanding the presuppositions of standard methods and applying them in an innovative way in the analysis of complex business economic problems.
- Using the knowledge of the wider economic framework, related sciences and the other functional domains in a critical way when analysing and solving problems from the specialist functional domain under study.
- Being able to apply the supporting sciences (such as statistics, mathematics, research methodology and policy information science) in a critical way when solving complex business economic problems that are typical of the functional domain under study.
- Mastering the common specialist statistical techniques and research methodologies that are typical of the functional domain.
- Applying paradigms and indicating the boundaries of them and using them creatively.
- Having an understanding of the development and dynamics within the business economic functional domains under study and applying this knowledge in the analysis of complex processes.
- Integrating processes of change and the importance of innovation in the frame of thinking.
- Having a thorough understanding and knowledge of International financial reporting, audit and management control (Accountancy). Having a thorough understanding and knowledge of financial statement analysis, corporate finance and valuation and risk management (Corporate Finance). Having a thorough understanding and knowledge of consumer behaviour, business and international marketing, marketing communication, business development and digital marketing (Marketing).
- Defining and working out scientifically based research in a business economic functional domain and selecting in a critical way the most appropriate research methods for this and adapting them to one’s own personal use.
- Having a critical overview of sources of business economic research and applying them creatively.
- Formulating and testing research hypotheses.
- Representing the results of one’s own research correctly and conform the ethical standards, realising limitations and giving instructions for further scientific research.
- Interpreting, reporting on and evaluating the results of existing and one’s own initial research.
- Choosing autonomously for a correct level of abstraction when modelling complex business economic problems in the field of accountancy, business financing or marketing.
- Analysing and evaluating business economic issues within a functional domain with a high degree of autonomy on the basis of scientific knowledge and in a way that goes beyond one’s discipline and domain.
- Formulating a personal point of view and giving recommendations with respect to complex business economic problems.
- Reflecting in a critical way on one’s own thinking and functioning, and, where necessary, adjusting it, among other things by means of problem based learning.
