Postgraduate Studies in Blue Resources for the Blue Economy
The objective of this Joint International Postgraduate programme is to offer an add-on learning opportunity for students to be prepared for the rapidly evolving demands of the blue economy sector. The Blue Economy can be defined as activities related to oceans, seas and coasts for economic growth, improved livelihoods and jobs.
Open Days
Each spring there is a Graduation Fair. It consists of a job fair (with more than 200 different companies) and a postgrad/master fair.
For some programmes, there is a specific Open Day. If this is the case, you will find the date here (at the latest Feb 15th).
Admission for students holding a Flemish degree

Admission for Students holding a Non-Flemish Degree
A prerequisite for admission is that applicants have a Master’s degree in biology, ecology, environmental sciences, oceanography, marine sciences, geography, (bio-science) engineering, nematology, geology, (bio)chemistry, bioinformatics, veterinary medicine or other equivalent academic degrees in a discipline related to the content of the programme from a recognised University, College or Institute (with approval of the faculty of sciences) with minimum 240 credits at the latest before the start of the studies. For other masters in science and applied science, equivalency will be evaluated based on scientific competences and skills of the students by the Educational Committee.
Language requirements
The language requirements for Postgraduate Studies in Blue Resources for the Blue Economy differ from the required standard level for English taught study programmes as specified in the Ghent University Education and Examination Code:
- a recent TOEFL Certificate: minimum score: 87 points (internet based)
- a recent IELTS Certificate: minimum score: 6.5
- a recent Certificate of a University Language Centre testifying that the student masters the necessary knowledge of English to function academically (specify CEF-level / minimum CEF-level B2)
- a recent Cambridge English certificate: Cambridge English First (FCE) - grade A or B
- a certificate proving that the student has followed at least 1 year of higher education in English
