- Apply advanced knowledge of theories, models, bounds, methods, techniques, processes and applications of mathematics to analyze and solve new or complex theoretical or applied problems.
- Have specialized knowledge related to a major (pure mathematics, mathematical physics, applied mathematics) and use this knowledge in an innovative and creative way.
- Use mathematics related technological tools (such as domain specific software packages) in advanced problems and research, self-employedly and constructively.
- Understand the consistency with other relevant scientific fields and subfields and be able to involve them in more sophisticated ideas and applications.
- Thoroughly demonstrate an understanding of the latest scientific developments of at least one of the aspects of the major in the mathematics programme.
- Independently analyze complex and specialized mathematical questions and substantiate with precise evidence.
- Major Pure Mathematics: Master and use in an innovative way specialized logical, combinatorial, algebraic, geometric and analytical methods.
- Major Pure Mathematics: Have a broad view on the interrelations between the different domains of mathematics.
- Major Mathematical Physics: Master and innovatively use specialized mathematical principles of theoretical physics.
- Major Mathematical Physics: Apply contemporary specialized domains of mathematics to problems in theoretical physics.
- Major Applied Mathematics and Computer Science: Master and use in an innovative way specialized methods from statistics, stochastics, numerical mathematics and soft computing in various fields such as biology, economics and computer science.
- Major Applied Mathematics and Computer Science: Handle appropriate practical methods and models from a mathematical background for realistic and professionally relevant problems.
- Design solution strategies in an innovative and autonomous way and carry out problem-based research, and develop a judgment about the quality of both steps.
- Critically consider and reflect on existing and new theories, models or interpretations within the subject of specialization.
- Creatively formulate hypotheses, discover new connections and form an opinion based on data and information of a possibly limited, incomplete or contradictory nature.
- Design and implement targeted experiments and simulations, and critically evaluate the data collected within a research related or problem solving context.
- Analyze, critically evaluate and synthesize information from published international literature (in a foreign language) and complex information sources.
- Choose and use the appropriate method for an advanced mathematical problem.
- Systematically and critically reflect on one's own thinking and actions and translate this into thoughtful conclusions and more adequate solutions.
- Show openness to new scientific developments and their applications in a broad scientific, economic or societal context.
- Adopt an active attitude towards permanent knowledge, lifelong learning and the independent learning process.
- Autonomously develop logical and analytical reasoning, understand complex reasoning and evaluate it critically.
- Thinking and acting in a problem preventing and problem solving way in a variety of situations or in an unfamilar environment.
- Generalize questions and approach them at the appropriate level of abstraction.
- Present one's own research, thoughts, ideas, and opinions or proposals within professional activities (also in a second language), orally and written.
- Present oral and written communications on new developments, underlying rationale and judgment within the field and near the edge of the field, to experts and non-experts.
- Project working in a mathematical context: formulate objectives, keep end goals and progress in mind, report targeted.
- Act and cooperate in an inspiring, supportive and authoritative way, depending on the situation.
- Elucidate the importance of mathematics in the historical evolution of scientific thought and indicate how it demonstrates a basic requirement for full-fledged science.
- Demonstrate ethical, professional and socially responsible behavior in an academic context.
- Behave professionally, characterized by enthusiasm, reliability, commitment, perseverance, accuracy and independence.
- Minor Research: Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the latest scientific developments of at least one of the aspects of the disciplines present in the major and where possible find connections with other aspects.
- Minor Research: Have the necessary theoretical knowledge and methodological skills to start a subsequent doctoral or master's program at domestic and foreign universities.
- Minor Research: Get deeply acquinted with research in a theoretical or applied context in an strongly independent way through literature study, seminar and/or internship.
- Minor Education: Apply knowledge of general concepts, theories and principles of didactics to teach mathematics and related sciences at various levels.
- Minor Education: Stimulate enthusiasm for the beauty and necessity of mathematics.
- Minor Economics and Insurance: Be familiar with the principles of general management and business economics and with risk and financial processes in the insurance and banking sector.
- Minor Economics and Insurance: Judge the relevance and implications of scientific developments and applications in the economic and policy context.
- Minor Economics and Insurance: Be familiar with the necessary theoretical knowledge and methodological skills to start a subsequent work-related master's program (e.g. in actuarial sciences) at domestic and foreign universities.
